Monica's Success Story

Monica was introduced to JCBC Fitness at her employer's fundraising event.  She bid on a month of training at JCBC Fitness, in a silent auction, and won.   Classes were in a convenient location near her home.  “I loved the first month so much that I had to sign up for more.”

She said her motivation to get started was “I had been struggling with negative body image after gaining a bunch of weight. I wasMonica_Before the heaviest I've ever been except when I was pregnant. Although I was not clinically overweight, I felt bad about how I looked, felt bloated all the time, and had outgrown several pairs of pants”

Finding the time to work out was always difficult for Monica.  She would come home tired from work and want to spend time with her family.  “I didn't think I could get up early in the morning because, as my family can attest, I love my sleep.”  Even with her reservations about getting up early, Monica gave the morning sessions a try.

”The first class was really tough, but I loved it.  It was the perfect type of workout for me--lots of variety, and if there was an exercise I didn't care for, I knew it would only last a short time before I'd be on to the next activity.  Jennifer was incredibly supportive and encouraging, and I loved the personal attention she gave me during the session. That support and encouragement has continued each time I come to work out.”

Why did she return? 

“I returned because I felt I could follow through with my commitment to exercise.  The personal attention was there, the encouragement and support was there, and I felt so good after I got home each morning, despite having to get up so early.Monica_After_resized

Jennifer recently offered a 21-day done-for-you meal plan challenge, where she encouraged healthy eating with whole foods and provided the menu and grocery list each week.  During that short time period, I lost 5.5 inches off my body and 2 pounds using the program!

Overall in my 2 months at JCBC Fitness I have lost

5 pounds and 10 inches!

Now I am back into the pants I hadn't been able to button a few months ago. I feel better about myself than I have in a long time and I am continuing to try and follow the meal plan with a few modifications.

Although I like to be active, I am not really an athletic person. I have worked out before in the past but have not been able to tell that I was making progress.  Since working out with JCBC Fitness, I can tell a difference in my strength, stamina, and energy level. It's been amazing!”

You can do it!

“I would encourage new people to stick with it even when you don't want to. You're going to be very sore for the first few days or weeks.  The best thing for me to do when my muscles were sore was to work out again--it loosened everything up.  And as you get stronger, you won't experience the soreness as badly.  Also, don't be afraid to ask Jennifer questions about technique or nutrition.  She is supportive and non-judgmental and can infect you with her positive energy!”
